Frequently
Asked
Questions for
Men's BrazilianWaxing
What exactly is a men's Brazilian wax? The men's Brazilian (also known as
the Baseball Wax, Manzilian or Guyzilian) involves removing hair
from the front pubic area (the mound), around the base of the penis, the penis, the scrotum, the rectal area, and the perineal body (the area between the rectum and the scrotum). Our partial Brazilian removes all of the hair, but leaves the mound.

Why do men get Brazilian waxing? Men request Brazilian waxing for many reasons. The following are some of the more popular reasons.
b For hygienic purposes.
b To reduce excess sweat and heat in that area.
b Their partner requests it because they like the look and feel of
the area without hair.
b Many competitive athletes (such as swimmers and cyclists)
choose waxing in which to be hair-free because body hair
considerably reduces their time.
b To avoid the irritation, redness, and ingrown hairs from shaving
down there.
b To give the appearance of a larger penis size.
b Some men claim their sexual experience with their partner is en-
hanced considerably because of increased sensitivity from being
hairless.

Should I be embarrassed? No. At Brazil Appeal Waxing™ your waxing pro-
cedure will be done with the utmost care and professionalism using
proper sanitation protocols. In addition, our waxing specialist, who has over 25 years of waxing experience with a medical esthetics background, will be properly gloved just like in your doctor's office. You will be given a towel to place over your private area before and after your procedure.
***************************************************************
I've never had a men's Brazilian wax before. What can I expect at Brazil Appeal
Waxing™? If you're a new client, you will be given a consultation
sheet to fill out when you arrive. You will then be escorted to our
treatment room and our waxing specialist will go over your consult-
ation sheet with you.
If there are no contraindications (i.e. medical conditions or medica-
tions that would prevent you from safely receiving the procedure),
our waxing specialist will then explain to you what will be involved
in the procedure.
After she leaves the treatment room, you will need to remove your
clothing from the waist down. There will be a container of wipes for you to clean your private areas with. You will then lay down on
the treatment table (face up) and place a towel over your private area. When your waxing specialist returns she will wash up and begin your treatment. If it's your first visit, she will explain what she is doing throughout the treatment to calm any nerves you may have. New clients have told us that although they feel only slight to no discomfort, keeping an open dialogue also helped to calm their nerves. Following your waxing procedure, new clients will be given a post-wax sheet to take home.
***************************************************************
How long does the procedure take? Unlike many of our competitors, Brazil
Appeal Waxing™ doesn't believe in giving you a Brazilian wax that's
faster than the speed of light (10 or 15 minutes). We take the time needed to to it right. That means your procedure will take approximately 45 - 50 minutes using a high quality imported wax system.
***************************************************************
How do I prepare for my first Brazilian wax and will it hurt? Compared to our competitors, our method is less painful than others. However, we have found that men, in general, have a lower pain tolerance than women and therefore may feel more of a quick sting when receiving this procedure. If you have low pain tolerance you may want to take 1 or 2 ibuprofen tablets 1 hour before coming in. Also, it's recommended you not have any coffee before your procedure because the caffeine may make your skin more sensitive. Ditto with alcohol. Save the caffeine consumption until after your procedure. Better yet, drink water. On the hygienic side, we do ask that you shower before you arrive or if you're coming straight from work, please shower that morning.
***************************************************************
What happens if I get an erection during the procedure? Not to worry. It's just like when you get an exam at the doctor's office, many men can experience an erection, which is not related to any sexual thoughts or desires, but rather due to a natural body reaction which you have no control over.
***************************************************************
Following my first men's Brazilian wax how often will I need to come back? That
depends on how fast your hair grows and hair growth is determined
by several factors. Some waxing establishments tell their clients to
return every 3 weeks. At Brazil Appeal Waxing™ we advise clients to monitor their hair growth after their first Brazilian waxing with us
and when it reaches 1/2 " or longer, then we can safely and pain-
lessly re-wax you. This can take anywhere from 4 - 8 weeks for
most. Keep in mind that although we are able to wax you when
your hair growth is just 1/4" long, it will cause you more discomfort
at this length because the hair needs to be long enough for the wax
to shrink wrap around in order to be pulled out easily.
***************************************************************
I've heard that some waxing places charge extra for trimming and/or tweezing.
Do you? No. Any trimming and/or tweezing is included in the price
of our men's Brazilian.
***************************************************************
Do I need to trim my hair down there before I arrive? No. We'll take care of
that for you in our treatment room. In fact, we advise you not to
trim or cut the hair because you may risk trimming it too
short for waxing.
***************************************************************
Will I be all red down there after my Brazilian waxing? Erythema (redness)
varies from person-to-person. You may experience some slight reddening during this procedure (which is normal) however, most
of the redness should be gone within a few hours.
***************************************************************
I just shaved my genital area, how long will I have to wait to get waxed? Hair
growth varies from person-to-person, however, most men post-
shave need to wait at least 5 weeks before the hair is long
enough to be successfully waxed. Remember, your pubic hair
must be at least 1/2 inch to be removed with the least amount
of discomfort. The shorter the hair length, the more uncomfort-
able it will be for you during the procedure.
***************************************************************
Is the abdomen and buttocks included in the price of the men's Brazilian
wax? No. Click on "Men's Services" and scroll down to "Men's Waxing" to get pricing.
***************************************************************
Will my partner be allowed in the treatment room with me? That is entirely
up to you.

Any restrictions I need to know about following my Brazilian wax? Yes.
b Although you may shower following your Brazilian wax, we
advise you not use any body scrubs or loofahs in that area
for at least 5 days. We also suggest using a shower in-
stead of a bathtub to bathe...for at least 24 hours.
b Due to your skin being sensitive following your Brazilian wax,
it is suggested you abstain from sexual intercourse for 24
hours following your Brazilian wax.
b Steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs, or any heat source plus pools,
lakes, oceans, rivers or any body of water...other than your
shower needs to be avoided for at least 2 days following your
Brazilian wax.
b Avoid strenuous exercising or activity for at least 24 hours
following your Brazilian wax.
b Do not use a tanning salon for a least 3 days following your
Brazilian wax. In fact, do yourself and your skin a favor and
avoid tanning salons altogether. Tanning booths prematurely
age you and increase your chances of getting skin cancer.
Is having a darker skin tone really worth looking like a shar
pei and getting painful treatments for cancer not to mention
risking to mention risking disfigurement when the doctors
have to cut out the cancer from your nose, ear, or cheek or
worse...risking your life for?
b No sunbathing (in natural sunlight) for at least 2 days follow-
ing your Brazilian waxing. If you sunbathe au naturel, then
make it 3 days following your Brazilian waxing and wear lots
of physical sunblock on that area (physical sunblocks contain
Zinc Oxide or Titanium Oxide). The best sunblocks contain
both. We advise not using chemical sunblocks in this area
because they may be too irritating. (Chemical sunblocks are
those that don't contain zinc or titanium oxide).

Is there anyone who shouldn't get a men's Brazilian wax or any other waxing services? Yes. Waxing is contra-indicated (meaning that certain
medical conditions or medications you take may prevent you from safely receiving the service) if you have any of the following listed below. Brazil Appeal Waxing™will not be able to provide this procedure unless and until your condition(s) has cleared up and has been successfully treated by a physician.
Waxing is contra-indicated if you have any of the following:
b If you have a sexually transmitted disease that you have not
yet been treated for.
b If you have active genital herpes.
b If you have pubic lice (crabs) or head lice.
b If you have scabies.
b If you have ringworm.
b If you have shingles.
b If you have impetigo.
b If you have boils in the area you want waxed (i.e buttocks area).
b If you have conjunctivitis.
b If you've had any recent surgeries and want to be waxed over
the scar tissue or if you have had liposuction within the past
3 months and want to be waxed in that area. (Scar tissue takes
approximately 6 months to heal).
b If you are currently taking the acne drug Accutane® or have
stopped taking it in the last 12 months. All waxing is contra-
indicated for Accutane®.
b If you are currently using the topical acne cream Differin® and
want facial waxing.
b If you are currently using topical retinoid creams such as
Retin-A® or Renova® and want facial waxing. (You must
discontinue use for at least 3 weeks).
b If you have had a recent chemical peel (within the last 30 days)
and want facial waxing.
b If you are sunburned in the area you want waxed.
b If you have ropey varicose veins on your legs and want leg
waxing.
b If you have extremely fragile or crepey skin.
b If you are diabetic or taking blood thinning medication you
may or may not be able to receive a waxing treatment. If
you are diabetic or taking any blood thinning medication, you
will need to sign a consent form and then a small patch test
will be done to see if you are able to safely receive a men's
Brazilian or any other type of waxing.
b If you've had a self-tan application in the last 7 days. Since
self-tanning color is temporary, waxing will most likely remove
some of your self-tan color. This may also happen with a
natural tan.

Do you have certain days or hours available for this procedure? Yes. We offer our men's Brazilian waxing on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays only. For those who would like to have their procedure after work, we take our last appointment on Thursdays @ 6:30 p.m.
***************************************************************
What will happen if I initiate any inappropriate behavior and/or sexually explicit language? Your procedure will end immediately and you will be told to leave and asked not to come back. Most clients are professional and respectful when having this procedure done. However, we do have on-site security and safety procedures in place for anyone who becomes problematic.
Your Brazilian waxing procedure will be done with the highest level of professionalism and any inappropriate behavior or language will not be tolerated. After all, would you flirt, make any advances or sexual innuendos with your doctor when they're giving your a pelvic, colon or prostate exam?
