Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a Brazilian, partial Brazilian, and regular bikini wax? A full Brazilian bikini wax removes all the hair in front and back.  Like a full Brazilian, a partial Brazilian removes all the hair in the back, but leaves a "landing strip" of hair in the front or a small triangle.  A regular bikini wax (also called a granny wax) only removes the hair that would normally poke out when wearing a regular-cut swimsuit.

I've never had a Brazilian bikini wax before.  What can I expect at Brazil Appeal Waxing™? If you're a new client, you will be given a consultation card to fill out when you arrive.  After you fill out your consultation card, you will be escorted into our treat-ent room and our waxing specialist will then go over your consultation card with you.

If there are no contraindications (i.e. medical conditions or medications that would prevent you from safely receiving the service), our waxing specialist will then explain to you in detail what will be involved in your service.

You will only be asked to remove your clothing from the waist down after she leaves the room.  A "modesty towel" will be left for you on your dressed treatment table to be placed over your private area while waiting for your waxing specialist to return.  There will also be a container of baby wipes for you to clean your private areas with.  When your waxing specialist returns she will begin your treatment.  If it's your first visit, she will explain what she is doing throughout the treatment to calm any nerves you may have.  New clients have told us that although they feel only slight to no discomfort, keeping an open dialogue also helped to calm their nerves. Following the service, new clients will be given a post-wax sheet to take home.

*****************************************************************************
Following my first Brazilian bikini wax how often will I need to come back? That depends on how fast your hair grows and hair growth is determined by many factors.  Many waxing establishments tell their clients to come back every 3 weeks.  However, at Brazil Appeal Waxingwe advise our female clients to monitor their hair growth after their first bikini waxing with us and when it reaches close to 1/2 inch, then we can safely and painlessly re-wax you.  This can take anywhere from 4 - 8 weeks for most women.  Keep in mind that although we are able to wax you when your hair growth is just 1/4" long, it will cause you more discomfort at this length because the hair needs to be long enough for the wax to shrink wrap around it in order to be pulled out easily and successfully.

*****************************************************************************
How much time does it take for you to do a Brazilian bikini? It depends on the client's hair growth.  Typically your service will take up to 45 minutes.  On your first visit, plan on being here at least (1) hour so that you can fill out a consultation card and go over it with our waxing specialist.

*****************************************************************************
Most of the Brazilian waxes I've had usually took 10 - 15 minutes and were extremely painful.  Since yours are 45 minutes, does this mean I have to endure 45 minutes of pain? Absolutely not!  Please refer to our Home Page for an explanation as to why your past experiences involved unnecessary pain.  At Brazil Appeal Waxing your experience will be completely different than what you are used to.  We do not offer fast, assembly-line Brazilian bikini waxing services where we get you in and out in 10 minutes while you suffer needlessly.  We take our time to do it right and give you a proper and virtually painless Brazilian waxing treatment.  Your comfort and safety is our #1 priority and not how many clients we can squeeze into a 1-hour time slot to make more money.  That's why we only accept a few clients per day.

*****************************************************************************
Why do you charge more for your Brazilian waxes when most places charge anywhere from $25.00 to $45.00? Good question.  Our Brazilian waxing prices may initially seem high as compared to other waxing establishments, however, most of these places offer quick, yet painful assembly-line waxing services and only allocate 10 minutes for your Brazilian bikini waxing.   They also try to have you come back every 3 weeks to get re-waxed.  What you're paying for at Brazil Appeal Waxing is more time given to your service (30 - 45 minutes...as opposed to 10 minutes), a higher quality and more effective wax system, and a waxing specialist with over 25 years of waxing experience who can give you a virtually painless Brazilian bikini wax every 4 - 8 weeks...instead of every 3 weeks in an impeccably clean treatment room using waxing pots that are not contaminated. Plus, all new Brazilian bikini clients get $10.00 OFF! their 1st Brazilian waxing!  In addition, all Brazilian and brow waxing clients receive a FREE Chocolate Lip Wax (a $15.00 savings!!!) with every treatment.

*****************************************************************************
Some waxing places I've gone to charge extra for trimming and/or tweezing.  Do you? No.  Any trimming and/or tweezing is included in the price for our full Brazilian and partial Brazilian bikini waxes.

*****************************************************************************
Do you use a numbing cream or do I even need one? Our painless method does not require any application of numbing creams nor do we have to liquor you up beforehand.  You also don't need to pop any Vicodin or pain killers prior to seeing us.

*****************************************************************************
Will I be all red down there after my Brazilian bikini? Erythema (redness) varies from person-to-person.  With our method, you may have some slight reddening during the treatment, however, most of the redness will be gone within a few hours.

*****************************************************************************
I just shaved my bikini area, how long will I have to wait to get waxed? Hair growth varies from person-to-person, however, most women post-shave need to wait a minimum of 3 -4 weeks before the hair is long enough to be successfully waxed.

*****************************************************************************
How should I prepare for my Brazilian bikini wax? If you get your Brazilian wax from us, you don't need to mentally prepare yourself, slap on numbing cream, or even have a drink before-hand because it's not going to hurt.  However, we cannot necessarily say the same about other waxing establishments.  Other than that, we do ask that you shower before you arrive or if you're coming straight from work, please shower that morn-ing.  We also supply baby wipes for you to freshen up with before your service begins.  Although we will prep your bikini area and remove surface bacteria before your treatment, it's makes the session much more pleasant for you and your waxing specialist when you arrive 'fresh & clean'.

*****************************************************************************
Do I need to trim my hair down there before I arrive? No.  We'll take care of that for you in our treatment room.  In fact, we advise you not to trim or cut the hair because you may risk trimming it too short for waxing.

*****************************************************************************
I'm on my period.  Can I still come in for a Brazilian bikini wax? Yes.  However,  you need to be aware that some women are more sensitive down there several days before their flow and may experience a bit more discomfort than normal when getting their bikini area waxed.  On the other hand, other women aren't as sensitized during this time and are fine with receiving their Brazilian bikini waxes.  If you know that this service causes you more discomfort just prior to menstruation then we advise you to wait a week after your period ends and then come in for your bikini waxing service.  Another question women want to know is if they can get their bikini waxed while wearing a tampon.  Yes.  Wearing a tampon will not interfere with your Brazilian bikini wax service.  Thankfully, most women will come in clean and fresh when they're on their period and will be wearing a tampon.

*****************************************************************************
I'm 8 months pregnant, is it too late for me to get a Brazilian bikini wax before I give birth? Absolutely not.  We can even provide this service up to  1 - 2 weeks before your due date.  Pillows will be provided on the treatment table for your comfort.

*****************************************************************************
Do you supply disposable panties for a partial bikini?  At Brazil Appeal Waxingour bikini waxes are done in the most professional and sanitary manner.  Although we do prefer to work sans panties because we find them to be a bit of hindrance when performing the above service, we also understand that some clients may be more comfortable with panties on.  Therefore, we do provide disposable panties for clients who request them for our partial Brazilian.  Our goal is to make all of our clients comfortable and happy.  Please note that with all of our bikini waxing services, our waxing specialist is always gloved up for your protection and peace of-mind.  As soon as your treatment is complete, a modesty towel will be placed over the area just worked on and, after a brief post-treatment consultation, your waxing specialist will step out of the room so that you can redress.

What are the advantages of having regular Brazilian bikini waxes?

b    You look, feel, and smell oh so fresh and clean. Or as Shania
Twain says, "Man, I feel like a woman!"

b   Assuming you shower daily (and we know you do...probably
twice a day!) you won't have to worry as much about vaginal
odors because there's no more hair for the vaginal secretions
to cling on to which allow bacteria to grow and multiply
resulting in an unpleasant smell.  The same goes when
you're menstruating.  When you're bare down there, the
blood can't get matted in your hair which produces quite an
unpleasant odor.  With no hair down there, you just need to
wear a panty liner now that you're all clean and bare.

b   No more irritation, redness, and ingrown hairs from shaving
    down there.

b   No more chafing (especially for runners).

b   No more worry about unsightly pubic hair peeking out of your
    swimsuit.

b   Your sexual experience with your partner is enhanced
    considerably.

*****************************************************************************
Are there any disadvantages? Other than it being painful at other waxing places, we can't think of any.

*****************************************************************************
Any restrictions I need to know about following my Brazilian bikini wax? Yes.

b   Although you may shower following your Brazilian bikini wax,
we advise you not use perfumed or scented soaps, gels,
cleansers, or scented lotions in that area for 24 hours.  Also,
do not use any body scrubs or loofahs in that area for at
least 3 days.  We also recommend using a shower instead of
a bathtub to bathe...for at least 24 hours.

b   It is recommended you abstain from sexual intercourse for at
least 24-hours following your Brazilian bikini wax.  However,
if you feel the need for some lovin', make sure your partner
is clean-shaven prior to...well, you know.

b   Steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs, pools, lakes, oceans, rivers,
or any body of water...other than your shower needs to be
avoided for at least 2 days following your Brazilian bikini
    wax.

b   Avoid strenuous exercising or activity for at least 24 hours
    following your Brazilian bikini wax.

b   Do not use a tanning salon for a least 3 days following your
Brazilian bikini wax.  In fact, do yourself and your skin a favor
and avoid tanning salons altogether.  Tanning booths pre-
maturely age you and increase your chances of getting skin
cancer.  Is having a darker skin tone really worth looking like
a shar pei and getting painful treatments for cancer...not to
mention risking disfigurement when the doctors have to cut
out the cancer from your nose, ear, or cheek or worse risking
    your life for?

b   No sunbathing (in natural sunlight) for at least 2 days
following your Brazilian bikini waxing.  If you sunbathe au
naturel, then make it 3 days following your Brazilian waxing
and wear lots of physical sunblock on that area (physical
sunblocks contain Zinc Oxide or Titanium Oxide).  The best
sunblocks contain both.  We advise not using chemical
sunblocks in this area because they may be too irritating.
(Chemical sunblocks are those that don't contain zinc or
    titanium oxide).

Is there anyone who shouldn't get a Brazilian bikini wax or any other waxing services? Yes.  Waxing is contra-indicated (meaning that certain medical conditions or medications you take may prevent you from safely receiving the service) if you have any of the following listed below.  Brazil Appeal Waxingwill not be able to service you unless and until your condition(s) has cleared up and has been successfully treated by a physician.

Waxing is contra-indicated if you have any of the following:

b    If you have a sexually transmitted disease that you have not
    yet been treated for.

b    If you have active genital herpes (those with a sore or sores
in, around, and on their vaginal area).

b    If you have pubic lice (crabs) or head lice.

b    If you have scabies.

b    If you have ringworm.

b    If you have shingles.

b    If you have a yeast infection.

b    If you have impetigo.

b    If you have boils in the area you want waxed (i.e buttocks
    area).

b    If you have conjunctivitis.

b    If you've had any recent surgeries and want to be waxed over
the scar tissue or if you have had liposuction/liposculpture
within the past 3 months and want to be waxed in that area.
(Scar tissue takes approximately 6 months to heal).

b    If you are currently taking the acne drug Accutane® or
have stopped taking it in the last 12 months.  All waxing is
    contra-indicated for Accutane®.

b    If you are currently using the topical acne cream Differin®
    and want facial waxing.

b    If you are currently using topical retinoid creams such as
Retin-A® or Renova® and want facial waxing.  (You must
discontinue use for at least 3 weeks).

b    If you have had a recent chemical peel (within the last 30
    days) and want facial waxing.

b    If you are sunburned in the area you want waxed.

b    If you have ropey varicose veins on your legs and want leg
    waxing.

b    If you have extremely fragile or crepey skin.

b    If you are diabetic or taking blood thinning medication you
may or may not be able to receive a waxing treatment.  If
you are diabetic or taking any blood thinning medication, you
will need to sign a consent form and then a small patch test
will be done to see if you are able to safely receive a
Brazilian bikini or any other type of waxing.

b    If you've had a self-tan application in the last 7 days.  Since
self-tanning color is temporary, waxing will most likely
remove some of your self-tan color.  This may also happen
    with a natural tan.

b    If you're currently menstruating, your skin may or may not be
sensitized.  A simple patch test can done by your waxing
specialist to see if you are sensitized.

b    Brazil Appeal Waxing does not offer Brazilian bikini waxes to
those ages 15 and under.  Brazil Appeal Waxingdoes not
provide waxing services for anyone under the age of 11.
For those under the age of 17 wanting to receive waxing or
skin care services, you must be accompanied by an adult or
    legal guardian.
